about

When people think of lullabies they think of the likes of “Twinkle twinkle little star”, which young children enjoy, but we wrote these songs with the purpose of being lullabies for adults to enjoy as well as children.

There’s a real simplicity to the words and the melodies - and hopefully people, whether young or old, can find a place of quiet rest and calm as they listen to these, in the knowledge that they are deeply cared for from above.

Phil describes how it all started;

"I started writing lullabies 23 years ago after our first son was born. Then came our other two and so the lullabies just kept coming too.

I bought a few lullaby books and made my way through them looking for inspiration. I got in touch with Jo after I’d written a handful and she was able to take them and adapt the melodies and lyrics.

Over a period of months we worked our way through all the songs we’d written recording as we went along - up at Jo’s house.

One of our songs, Hush, got picked up by the producer, Brown Bannister – he was looking for material for his Sweet Dreams album to raise money for the McCaughy sextuplets.

A year or two later we had a lot of interest from Integrity Music in the US, but the timing wasn’t right and so the project got shelved and has been gathering dust for the last 20years.

Then came lockdown – a couple of days into it, I woke up one night thinking about the lullabies with the words in my head “for such a time as this.”

I spoke to Jo about the possibility of releasing them in their current demo form as lockdown restrictions prevent meeting to re-record anything.

She was up for the idea as we both felt there is currently such a climate of fear and uncertainty and this little batch of songs might offer some hope, peace and comfort."
